A one-of-a-kind vessel, Orla began life as a totally enclosed lifeboat on the Irish Sea Pioneer before being painstakingly transformed into a distinctive liveaboard home. Over 20 months she was rebuilt inside and out drawing an audience of more than 170 million viewers online and earning features on George Clarke’s Amazing Spaces, the BBC, and Power & Motoryacht magazine. She stands as a robust and practical boat, designed for real use on the water.

Accommodation & Layout

• Sleeps up to four: fixed double berth forward with custom memory-foam mattress & convertible saloon seating.

• Open-plan saloon with galley, seating/dining area, and separate washroom.

• Two custom-built sliding windows (lockable internally), 3 Houdini windows, and 6 recently installed Lewmar windows - lots of natural light.

 

​Engine & Steering

• Tohatsu MFS20E 3RS Outboard (professionally installed in 2024) with ~30 hours run time (service recommended). Electric start, power trim, and upgraded high-pitch, low-thrust blade.

• Carbon-fibre helm box with stainless steel wheel.

 

Electrical & Solar Systems

• Four 150Ah leisure batteries, drop-tested and in good charge.

• Three 380w flexible solar panels with MPPT solar charge controller.

• Kisae 300w inverter/charger and 240v shore power connection with RCD & breaker under forward berth.

• 12v isolator switches located in saloon locker.

• LED strip lighting in galley, LED wall lights on bulkheads, plus reading/USB lights in cabin.

• All electrics professionally installed.

 

Heating & Hot Water

• Autoterm 12v diesel heater (~5kw) ducted to warm the main cabin.

• 7L Combiboiler supplies hot water to shower and tap - both professionally installed. 

 

Galley & Appliances

• Stainless-steel sink with water from a custom ~350L bladder tank under cabin floor.

• 12v Autoterm fridge.

• Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms installed.

 

Plumbing & Sanitation

• Shower with electric pump. 

• Woo Waterless tiny eco toilet (composting type).

• GRP hull much thicker than standard boats due to past lifeboat usage.

• Last survey (2024) confirmed no osmosis, no delamination, and dry bilges, minor scuffs only.
